On Sept. 14th, 2014, the Rotary Club of Campbellford and the Warkworth Community Service Club joined forces to host the Toronto Welsh Male Voice Choir at Westben Festival Theatre in Campbellford. The purpose of this event was to raise funds for the two service clubs while providing a wonderful afternoon of entertainment to the community. Having the pleasure of serving as the contact between the choir and the clubs, I can say that, without exception, all my contacts with the choir and its various representatives were highly professional and that the group's performance was of exceptional quality. While Welsh music predominated the afternoon, a healthy mix of other genres made the repertoire most interesting and entertaining. We were most fortunate to have brought the choir to our community and both clubs now have additional funds for community work.

On Sept. 27th, my niece and I had the privilege to attend the "Concert in the Barn" at Eden Mills. I grew up with Welsh male choir recordings playing frequently in our home, so I knew the concert would be good but I wasn't expecting how much fun it would be! Right from the beginning, during the singing of the Welsh national anthem, you captured both my ears and my heart. I hope no one noticed my humming along. Although "Counting the Goats" is not a familiar tune, I will always remember it as a highlight of my first (but hopefully not last) TWMVC concert! Thank you so much.

This past weekend I had the pleasure of hosting a benefit concert, featuring the TWMVC, in order to generate funds for a local non profit organization. From the initial contact via the choir’s website, to communicating with the choir secretary and local choir members the organization and implementation of the event was simple and flawless. The choir was gracious and their music heavenly. Since the concert, I as the hostess have received many emails thanking me for the wonderful event and praising the quality of the performance. Thank you gentlemen.

In July I had the pleasure and privilege of joining the choir on their tour of S Wales. My brother, Michael Stevens invited my nephew Mark Luther as soloist and myself as his accompanist to perform in the Rhondda concert, our home area. We were both delighted with the invitation and thoroughly enjoyed being part of the concert. Michael is in the tenor section and apart from spending quality time with him, I was very proud to be associated with such a fine, well rehearsed choir. Their three concerts I attended at Tredegar, Rhondda and Llantrisant were of an exceptionally high standard with a wide repertoire ranging from welsh folk songs and hymns to spiritual and operatic numbers and some delightful Canadian songs which were new to me. They captivated their audiences with their balanced harmonies, clear diction (particularly welsh) varying dynamics and lively interpretations of their songs. Congratulations and many thanks to their talented conductor William Woloschuk and accomplished accompanist Christina Faye. I sincerely hope this will be the first of many tours of the U K. I wish you all every success and happy rehearsing in the months ahead. Thank you for giving so many people so much pleasure. Ann Cregan, Yoxall Sept. 1st, 2013.

"Original version written in Welsh and translated to English by Elyned Robling" Sometimes through the eyes of a stranger one can truly recognize your culture and your own songs. On a lovely summer evening, July 16th of this year, I went to see the Toronto Welsh Male Voice Choir performing at the invitation of Pendyrus Male Voice Choir in Soar Chapel, Pontygwaith in the Rhondda Fach. I must admit that I went only because my uncle Peter from Ontario is a member of the choir and my Uncle Micheal from further away in Sweden was a guest member. I did not expect such an excellent evening. I was pleasantly disappointed. We had an evening of a variety of songs - traditional airs from Canada, classic gospel and smattering of popular tunes. We must say the highlight of the concert was the old hymns of the 14th and 15th centuries. According to the international histories of the Norman Davies, these hymns are amongst the chief, little-known treasurers of Europe. And to hear a choir from overseas treasuring and enjoying them I was completely convinced of this. Chiefly for this reason-there are four or five of these works without any Welsh representation at all. Seeing foreigners sing the old hymns with conviction and perfect harmony was wonderful. It gave me a brief look at some other wonderful worlds where Welsh holds sway occasionally. Lots of people come here to imitate our culture and to enhance it. Not 'Cymru Fydd' (Wales will be) so much as, 'The World Will be.' We saw a soloist of very high standard singing a few pieces. To crown it all, William Woloschuk, a talented young man, was the conductor of the choir. He received his classical music education in Canada, Kiev and the University in Graz and delights in our Welsh Nonconformist music. After the show we went across to the Independent Club in Dolgwilym Street and were given a warm welcome there. Thanks to the men from Toronto were given by Ann Crimmings from Aberdare, Mayor of the County Brough. And here was the second shock of the evening. In introducing the Chief Citizen, a delegate from Pendyrus Choir said several flattering, witty remarks about her. Here was the response: My daughters would be 'crazy about him', said my uncle Michael from Sweden.

My husband Glenn and I really enjoyed watching The Toronto Welsh Male Voice Choir in Toronto on February 9th. We sat with our dear friend Michael to not only see the choir but to support our lovely friend Glenn Hall. It was wonderful that the choir performed for us to support Prostate Cancer research. This choir has a wonderful sound and style. The music selection was very enjoyable. I found myself singing along to most of the songs. The conductor was amazing as he passed on his role to Rocco Rossi to conduct. Really fun. Well done everyone. Thank you Micheal and Glenn for inviting us. Susan and Glenn Pringle

Kudos to the Welsh Choir for an absolutely fabulous concert last week. It was the first time that my partner and I attended an event of yours, and we enjoyed it tremendously. What a rich repertoire of Welsh singing hymns, contemporary North American, and even a spiritual, not to mention several solos by the one and only Margaret Bardos. A great performance of wide vocal ranges, lovely interpretations, and a touch of delightfully cheeky humor throughout -- and all the more powerful for being a charity concert in support of Prostate Cancer Canada.

Being with Toronto Welsh Choir is always like a visit with family. On 9 February 2013, TWMVC was a very caring family, indeed ... raising awareness and funds for prostate research. A great concert concert was paired with an important purpose. I applaud the choir for both. Let's get together again soon!
