Yma o Hyd – Still Here!
Since our inception in 1995 founder and current active chorister, Gwyn Roberts, formed the Toronto Welsh Male Voice Choir with the intention of keeping the tradition of Welsh male-voice choral singing alive in Canada. Today, we continue to challenge ourselves with a mix of traditional Welsh music, Broadway tunes, operatic arias, Canadian folk and popular songs. Under Artistic Director William Woloschuk, we are consistently complimented by our audiences on our expressiveness and dynamic range.
This collection includes the pieces we’ve performed in our most recent concerts. There are more Welsh tunes than usual, so we tried to fit a combination of old, (Sosban Fach, Llef) and new (Y Tangnefeddwyr, Anfonaf Angel) into the mix. But we haven’t forgotten more contemporary songs, like The Sound of Silence, When I Fall In Love, and Angels. And, for extra drama, one of our favourites, Puccini’s Nessun Dorma. We’ve also added a special treat: two solo piano pieces performed by our brilliant accompanist, Matthew Coons. We know you’ll enjoy hearing him play as much as we do. We hope you like our newest offering, and that you will continue to come out to our concerts and support us in person. We look forward to being “still here” for many years to come!
